It is free and open source under the general public license you can run eclipse in Mac, Windows, and Linux. Before android studio, Eclipse was the base IDE for Andriod app development. Eclipse is a perfect IDE for mac, windows, and Linux which can be used to develop mobile, desktop, web, enterprise as well as embedded systems java applications. Eclipse normally looks on the computer for Java installations and selects an installed version of Java to use for running your Java programs. The computer may have more than one version of Java, so double-check Eclipse’s Java version selection.
Install the App
- Press
Command+Spaceand type Terminal and press enter/return key. - Run in Terminal app:
ruby -e '$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)' < /dev/null 2> /dev/null ; brew install caskroom/cask/brew-cask 2> /dev/null
and press enter/return key.
If the screen prompts you to enter a password, please enter your Mac's user password to continue. When you type the password, it won't be displayed on screen, but the system would accept it. So just type your password and press ENTER/RETURN key. Then wait for the command to finish. - Run:
brew cask install eclipse-java
Done! You can now use Eclipse IDE for Java Developers.
